Paddy Power Stayers' Hurdle Trophy

First moving & Musical Trophy to be presented to the winner of Paddy Power Stayers’ Hurdle in 2020.

As the new sponsor of the Stayers’ Hurdle at Cheltenham Festival, Paddy Power approached Designworks to create a moving, musical trophy conceived in-house by Paddy Power staff. The eye-catching design was based on a traditional carousel and features six of the best multiple winners of the race and its predecessor contest - Big Buck's, Inglis Drever, Baracouda, Galmoy, Crimson Embers and Silver Bay. In addition to the perpetual trophy which is held by the winner until the next event, Designworks created a smaller version featuring four winning horses for the winning owner to keep. All-time leading Cheltenham jockey Ruby Walsh was brought in during the design process to advise on correct jockey posture and position, and the horses were 3D printed before being plated in bright nickel. Each of the jockey models were hand-finished with the winning silks. The six horses rotate around a central pillar based on a traditional Cheltenham Hurdle, and rise and fall to the sound of "You are my sunshine". The Paddy Power Stayers’ Hurdle will be run on Thursday, day three, at 3.30pm.
