Bp pulse provide the largest public network for electric vehicle charging in the U.K.
Designworks were delighted to be selected to design bp pulse’s first exclusive hardware in a decade - the outcome is the bp pulse home and pro charger smart range.
A fundamental reinvention of their legacy home offering, the device went from wide and white, to tall and dark. The new slim form-factor offers the versatility to be installed in narrow spaces and the darker materials help integrate it more subtly with the built environment, and age gracefully in harsh weather conditions. Additionally, the height of the device allows the heat generated during vehicle charging to convect upwards keeping the unit cool, without resort to venting.
With management of the charging cable in mind, the enclosure’s lipped top edge elegantly integrates a hook feature. Whilst HMI elements were deliberately minimised and integrated for a more streamlined UX, an array of 30 LEDs around the socket bring the device to life and assist use in dim environments.
The device’s functionality is the result of thorough testing with key opinion leaders and superusers.
The bp pulse home and pro chargers are the only EVSEs to have qualified for a British Standards Institution kitemark for safety.
